Grieving Families Can Find Solace

Circle of Life Hospice bereavement and spiritual life counselors Mary Ellen Boucher and Nikki Peterson will hold a conference for grieving families from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria of Spring Hill Middle School, located at 3400 S.W. Second St., in Bentonville.

The workshop will focus on dealing with grief during the holidays.

Mall Hosts Mall-O-Ween

The Northwest Arkansas Mall merchants will host the annual Mall-O-Ween activities for children 12 and younger from 4 to 6 p.m.

Costume contest will begin at 4 p.m. in the mall’s center court and requires no advance registration. Age group and judging times are: birth to 2 years at 4 p.m., 2 to 4 years at 4:20 p.m., 5 to 6 years at 4:40 p.m., 7 to 9 years at 5 p.m. and 10 to 12 years at 5:15 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants within each age group based on creativity and costume originality.

Retailers will be passing out goodies for young trick-ortreaters at the front of each participating store. Bedford Camera & Video will be in center court taking pictures of trick-or-treaters for free.

Costume Prowl Slated Today

Cameron Smith & Associates will present an inaugural Spooktacular Costume Prowl at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade today.

The event will begin at 2 p.m.

The event will include varied costume divisions.

Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. and costs $15 per person.

The event benefits the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County.

Look Good Kicks Off Monday

The American Cancer Society will offer the Look Good ... Feel Better program from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Monday at the Washington Regional Cancer Support Home, 1101 N. Woolsey Ave.

in Fayetteville. Taught by volunteer licensed beauty professionals, the class is open to all women undergoing cancer treatment.

Participants will learn how to use makeup and skin care techniques to overcome the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. Sessions will be held on the first Monday of each month at the Fayetteville location.

Church Offers Wild West Hayride

Cross Brand Cowboy Church will host their fifth annual Wild West Hayride starting at 6 p.m. today. Each hayride is 30 minutes long and a wagon leaves every 15 minutes. The last wagon will leave at 8:15 p.m.

The family-friendly event will be held on Price Coffee Road in Bentonville.

Carnival Provides Family Fun

Millwood Christian Church will hold its annual Fall Carnival from 2 to 4 p.m.

Challenge Program Helps Youth

The Arkansas National Guard Youth Challenge Program will conduct an orientation at 10 a.m.

Thursday at the National Guard Armory, located at 3590 S. School Ave. in Fayetteville, for its January 2011 enrollment. Youth Challenge is a free structured program for youth aged 16-18 who have dropped out or are on the verge of dropping out of high school. Teens wishing to take control of their future and have the opportunity to earn a GED should bring a parent or guardian, a copy of their birth certificate, medical insurance card and a completed Youth Challenge Application to the orientation.

Clinic Gives Clients New Smiles

Community Clinic Springdale Dental recently received a $8,800 grant from the Delta Dental of Arkansas Foundation to improve the oral health of clients at the Washington/Madison County Drug Court Treatment Center.

Fifty-four Drug Court clients on the road to recovery from substance abuse will receive the care they need to improve their oral health. Procedures will focus on alleviating dental pain and suffering as well as restoring the client’s smile.

Woman Donates Five Afghans

Martha Chambers, a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth, recently donated five afghans to the Veterans Home in Fayetteville.

Chambers made the afghans herself and delivered them personally to local veterans.

Jeannine Presley and a member of volunteer services at the VA helped distribute the blankets.

Trunk Or Treat Set For Today

New Hope Fellowship Church will host a Trunk or Treat from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ozark Center Point Place, 5320 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. There will be door prizes, live music, bouncy houses and candy for the kids.

The public is invited.
