Mercy Groups To Open Boutique

— The Mercy Medical Auxiliary and the Mercy Health Foundation plan next month to open a new venture where people can shop for a cause.

It’s called “The MAX Re-Shop Boutique,” a place where customers can find gently used shoes, accessories, books, DVDs, home décor, accent furniture and more.

The MAX (short for Mercy Auxiliary) is a joint venture of the the two organizations. Each year, it will raise money to support specifi c programs inside Mercy Health of Northwest Arkansas.

The MAX Re-shop Boutique is in Village on the Creeks shopping center. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.Monday through Saturday. The shop is set to open in mid-November.

The MAX is now accepting donations of clothing, accessories and shoes, jewelry, new cosmetics/body care items, home décor, linens, books, CDs, DVDs and small accent furniture. Organizers ask that people not donate large furniture, computers or toys.

Donations will be picked up, and the donor provided with a receipt for income tax purposes. Individuals also can receive assistance with organizing a donation drive.

The store will be staff ed with one full-time paid manager and supported entirely by volunteers. Volunteers are needed for everything from donation processing to merchandising to running the cash register.

Individuals can make arrangements for donation pickup or learn more about volunteering by calling Melissa Ayers at 338-2932 or e-mailing Melissa.[email protected].

In addition to selling merchandise, the project will serve as an outreach for the auxiliary by assisting families with clothing and other basic needs through collaborations with other organizations. The MAX already has an agreement with Rogers Public Schools, which allows school counselors and social workers to send students and families in need to get clothing essentials. Other community partnerships will allow more residents to benefi t from donated goods.
