Bikers Ride For Kids

Bikers Against Child Abuse will host a fun run for the kids Saturday at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. First bike will go out at 9 a.m. Bikers will ride to Winslow for breakfast, stop again at Lake Fort Smith State Park and then return to Arvest Ballpark for lunch and a silent auction at 1 p.m.

Silent auction proceeds will buy Christmas presents for children. All riders are welcome.

Harvest Festival Raises Funds

Mount Comfort Presbyterian Church, at 3816 Mount Comfort Road in Fayetteville, is having a Harvest Festival fundraiser from 3 to 9 p.m.

Saturday. Activities will include games for children, a bake sale, a chili cook-off and live music by Sugar on the Floor.

Bottomless bowls of chili will be served at 5:30 p.m. for $2.

Desserts and soft drinks will also be available.

Chili, Soup Dinner Set For Friday

Women’s Ministries of Bella Vista Assembly of God, 1771 Forest Hills Blvd., will host its annual chili and potato soup dinner on Friday. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.;

and dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes chili, potato soup, salad, homemade desserts and beverages. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and children 4 and younger eat free.

Advance tickets are recommended. Tickets are available at the church office in the administration building south of the parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; at any of the three banks on the corner of Arkansas 279 and 340; or at the door. Proceeds will support mission programs throughout the year.

Food Fundraiser Slated For Nov. 7

The third annual Ozark Slow Food Benefit fundraiser will be 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Fayetteville home of Mona and Tom Jones. The fundraiser will features a cooking demonstration, discussion and dinner by Chef David Lewis of The Brick House Kitchen restaurant.

Lewis will expound on the benefits of eating local, seasonal foods.

Tickets are $50 per person and include the demonstration, full dinner and wine.

They may be purchased from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the National Center for Appropriate Technology offices at 207 W. Center St., in Fayetteville.

Seating is limited, and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Proceeds benefit Ozark Slow Food, one of the more than 200 national chapters of Slow Food USA, a grassroots movement that links the joy of food with a commitment to community and the environment and seeks to regain the biodiversity of food that was once common.

Art Benefits Animal Shelter

Friends of the Fayetteville Animal Shelter is presenting “Art by Julie Koehring-Brents,” an art show fundraiser featuring Koehring-Brents’ pet portraits and other works, from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Bank of America Building during First Thursday Fayetteville activities around the downtown square.

The artist will donate 25 percent of the show’s proceeds to the nonprofit.
