Subway Opens In Medical Center

A Subway sandwich shop opened at Mercy Medical Center of Northwest Arkansas in Rogers. The restaurant will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The hospital became interested in adding to its cafeteria options several months ago in order to ensure patients’ family and friends have somewhere convenient on the hospital campus to get a meal when the regular cafeteria is closed.

In addition to the Subway restaurant, the Mercy Café is open from 6:30 to 10 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 4:30 to 7 p.m. for dinner Monday through Friday. The Café is not open on weekends.

Tax-Aide Needs Volunteers

Tax-Aide is looking for volunteers to work in Bella Vista, Rogers, Bentonville, Springdale and Fayetteville.

The program, which started in 1968, is sponsored by the AARP Foundation and the Internal Revenue Service and is free to taxpayers. The program helps more than 2 million taxpayers at nearly 7,000 AARP Tax-Aides sites nationwide.

Volunteers are trained and certified using home and online training materials and are asked to work a couple days a week from February through mid-April.

Several leadership positions are also open, and there is a need for someone with computer knowledge to help set up sites and maintain equipment.

Recycler Gains Certification

Esco Processing and Recycling in Rogers recently became a Certified e-Stewards Recycler. The recycling business is at 1315 13th St.

Recyclers must undergo an independent audit process to ensure they are not simply dumping toxic waste on developing countries under the guise of “recycling,”according to the Basel Action Network, a global toxic trade organization.

The company designs custom electronics recycling to customers.

Connell Starts Marketing Firm

Kevin Connell, a local sales professional and former Dallas radio broadcaster, started J. K. Connell Consulting and Marketing.

J. K. Connell Consulting and Marketing sets rates by the month rather than hourly.

The company provides sales and sales management training, advertising, public relations, promotions and visibility in the community.

Connell lives in Fayetteville and has a background in sales, management, marketing, advertising and communications. His sales career began selling major appliances for JCPenney Company, in the early 1980s.

Springdale AirTemp Opens

United Mechanical of Oklahoma City established AirTemp Mechanical Service in Northwest Arkansas.

AirTemp Mechanical Service in Springdale is acommercial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration contractor, and will be the sole provider of Linc Service in this market. Linc Service was previously offered by L&L Mechanical Services of Springdale.

The establishment of AirTemp expands the company’s reach into Northwest Arkansas. The counties serviced by AirTemp include Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Pope, Searcy, Sebastian, Washington and Yell.

Butterball Facility Hits Milestone

Huntsville’s Butterball plant achieved 5 million worker hours without a lost-time injury, representing more than three years of safety performance by the facility’s associates.

Adopting standards developed by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program, Butterball implements a reputable safety program that has secured numerous accolades from national and local organizations.

The plant was named by OSHA as a VPP “StarAmongst Stars” facility, which certifies the facility maintains an incident rate of 50 percent or better than the industry average.

The Huntsville facility has also received the Award of Honor by the American Meat Institute and Award of Distinction by the National Joint Poultry Safety and Health Council.

Two Join Consortium

Quantis and PRé Consultants recently joined the Sustainability Consortium. The consortium is codirected by the University of Arkansas and Arizona State University.

PRé Consultants is a pioneer in the field of life cycle assessment and joined the consortium in support of the organization’s sciencebased work toward a more sustainable global supply chain.

The Sustainability Consortium is an independent organization of diverse global participants ranging from consumer product manufacturers, retailers, service providers and non-governmental organizations. It advocates for a transparent process and system, not individuals or organizations.
