Kimberly Louise Ivy

FAYETTEVILLE — Kimberly Louise Ivy, 56, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Oct. 3, 1954, in Oakland, Calif., to Dorothea Louise Malone and John Ralph Little.

For most of her adult life Kim was a homemaker and she loved her work. She enjoyed raising her children and entertaining friends, whether they were invited guests or just happened to drop by for a visit. Her door was always open and came with an offer of iced tea, and if you happened by at the right time (as many learned to do), a homemade meal. She enjoyed being outdoors and spent much of her time hiking the trails of the Ozarks and skiing in the Rocky Mountains. She enjoyed gardening; during her 30 years in California, she grew many species of cacti, and later as an Arkansan, learned to grow the native plants of the Ozarks. She was an avid reader, who instilled in her children a love of reading. Music was a vital part of Kim’s life. She was a talented musician, accomplished at the piano, guitar and violin, and had a beautiful singing voice. She began learning music at a very young age, and gave her children and grandchildren lessons on the same piano that was given to her when she was 5 years old. For many years, she enjoyed playing piano for her local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Southern California.

Kim will be remembered as an intelligent woman with a quick wit, who was a loving and true friend to all those who knew her.

Kim is greatly missed by her children, Ryan K. Fairbanks, Jennifer D. Ogle and her husband, Isaac, Katherine S. Burr and Jordan P. Ivy and his BFF, Rebecca R. Steele, all of Fayetteville; three wonderful grandchildren whom she adored, Tyler Ryan Nicole Fairbanks and her mother, Lisa Erickson, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Abigail Elise Burr and Jacob Grayson Burr and their father, Philip Burr of Springdale; four older brothers, William Hayden and Leona Myers, Raymond Bruce Myers, Ronald Maurice and Linda Myers and John Ralph Little; and a sister, Shirley Louise Compton; many nieces and nephews; and Kay and Larry Flick, longtime friends who stayed by her side during her final days.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2837 N. Old Wire Road in Fayetteville. A private celebration of her life will be held at Mineral Springs Cemetery for family and close friends of the family.

The doctors, nurses, and staff at Circle of Life Hospice took such good care of Kim and her family while she was in their care. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Circle of Life, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Epting Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
