Two Sessions Offered For Winter Carnival

— It started out with a special thought: How could the Bella Vista Property Owners Association introduce children to an old-fashioned carnival that’s free and fun for families?

The idea grew from there. The results have astounded organizers and this year they are again planning for children to scramble to the annual Winter Carnival, set for Dec. 11, according to an association news release.

The idea started rather simply. Organizers Tom Wooters and Kitty Casanova of Village Waste Water Co. batted around ideas one day, reminiscing about how much fun they had when they were growing up. They talked about the things they did as kids and all the great memories.

They wanted to spread that good cheer, so kids of all ages would know how to have good, old-fashioned fun. They settled on a holiday idea, complete with games, prizes and Santa, all in a carnival atmosphere.

This year, as in the past, two sessions will be offered at the carnival.

The first session will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.; the second from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be held at Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Drive.

The carnival is free; however, space is limited and tickets are required.

Free tickets will be available at Riordan Hall and the Bella Vista Country Club, 98 Clubhouse Drive, beginning Nov. 15.

Twenty games are available and every child receives 10 tickets to play. Each child receives a prize at every game. From there, once all the tickets are gone, children can continue playing but aren’t guaranteed a prize.

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will provide lunch and snacks.
