Companies reporting quarterly
earnings Thursday included: Colgate-Palmolive Co., the
consumer products maker, said
net income rose 4.9 percent
to $619 million, or $1.21 per
share, from $590 million, or
$1.12 per share, in the same
period last year. Revenue fell
more than 1 percent to $3.94
billion. The share price fell 58
cents to $74.92.
The Dow Chemical Co. re
ported a 28 percent decline in
net income to $512 million, or
45 cents per share, from $711
million, or 63 cents per share,
in the year-ago quarter. Sales
rose 6.8 percent to $12.9 bil
lion. Shares dropped 35 cents
to $30.86.
3M Co., the maker of Scotch
tape, said it earned $1.11 bil
lion, or $1.53 per share, up from
year-ago earnings of $957 mil
lion, or $1.35 per share. Rev
enue rose 11 percent to $6.87
billion. The shares fell $5.30 to
$85.07.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber
Co. reported a net loss of $20
million, or 8 cents a share, down
from a profit of $72 million, or 30
cents per share, a year earlier.
Revenue rose 13 percent to $5
billion. Shares declined $1.05 to
$10.56.
Eastman Kodak Co., the
camera maker, said it lost $43
million, or 16 cents a share,
improving from a loss of $111
million, or 41 cents per share, a
year earlier. Sales fell 1 percent
to $1.76 billion. Shares rose 61
cents to $4.58.
