Siloam Springs Wins

— Siloam Springs advanced Wednesday to the semifinals of the Class 5A State Volleyball Tournament with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 sweep of Batesville at Wynne High School.

The six-time defending champion Lady Panthers (29-8) got 20 kills and 13 block assists from Lizzy Briones to power past the Pioneers and avoid an all-5A-East semifinals.

The Lady Panthers will face East top-seed Wynne at 3 p.m. today, while Paragould will play Nettleton in the other semifinal match at 1 p.m.

“I’m really proud of the girls,” Siloam Springs coach Rose Cheek said. “They came out focused and ready to come after it. They played Siloam volleyball.”

Allie Wade added six kills and five block assists for the Lady Panthers, and led the team with 10 digs. Setter Laken Grigg had a productive day with 26 assists, five kills, six block assists, four aces and five digs.

Sarah Lowry added three kills, five block assists and three digs, and Makenzie Sharp had four kills and five block assists.

Lindsey Larkin contributed four block assists, while Ashley Avery had nine digs. She and Sami Abbey each had an ace. Caley Cox and Lexi Anglin combined for five digs.
