PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Tax System Needs Adjustment

— I can’t imagine why people of Arkansas would vote for someone like Blanche Lincoln. She must believe we are all stupid.

The offer to allow people to invest their Social Security in the stock market was just that - an offer. No one ever said it would be forced on the people who did not want it.

Doing away with income tax and adding it to sales tax would only hurt people who don’t pay income tax. I know there are a lot of people who don’t pay income tax or property tax. You must work and take your share of responsibility in order to pay your share of taxes. A few are really not able to work, but only a few. If sales tax was increased, everyone who buys things would pay it. Now only legally registeredAmericans pay for everyone.

Food tax should not be raised, but the common sales tax could be a more fair way to see that responsibility was shared by most, not just a few.

This current government believes we don’t even know what our cost of living is. Social Security was not raised in 2010 and may never be raised during the present administration. They say the cost of living has not gone up for us. I don’t know where they were checking, but my bills, including food, have risen steadily. I am sure we gave them their raise, even though we pay for everything they do already. If we don’t do something about these leeches, things can only go down.

STEVE ZEGA A TOP CHOICE

Washington and Madison County voters have the opportunity this fall to elect an outstanding lawyer as trial judge: Steve Zega. As a law teacher, I’ve observed Zega’s qualities over the years. He’s even-tempered and fair. He’s universally respected among his fellow lawyers. He has served his country well with a tour of duty in Iraq, and his county well as a justice of the peace. As a judge he will call ’em as he sees ’em, perceptively and impartially.

While his opponent would be a competent judge, Zega has the capacity to grow to be a great judge: Mega Zega.
