Greenway Trial Set For March 2011

MAN CHARGED WITH CAPITAL MURDER IN CONNECTION WITH 2007 DISAPPEARANCE OF WOMAN

— Randall Greenway will have a March trial in connection with the disappearance and death of Alicia Minton.

Circuit Judge David Clinger on Wednesday scheduled jury selection in the murder case to begin March 4.

Greenway, 38, is charged with capital murder in connection with the 2007 disappearance of Alicia Minton. Greenway previously pleaded not guilty.

Minton, then 29 and living in Bentonville, was last seen June 1, 2007, at Enterprise Rent-A-Car on West Walnut Street in Rogers. She was a former girlfriend of Greenway’s.

Greenway confessed he killed Minton to his then-girlfriend and at least six inmates, according to an affidavit.

The affidavit says on June 10, 2007, Greenway’s then-girlfriend told police Greenway confessed to her he killed Minton. The girlfriend, who was not identified, said Greenway took Minton to Beaver Lake on June 1.

According to the affidavit, Greenway piloted a 2001 Sun Tracker boat to an island on the lake. He said Minton was talking about his then-girlfriend, which made him angry. He came up behind Minton, cut her throat, stuck her head in the water because she was still alive, then stabbed her in the forehead. He wrapped Minton in a shower curtain, tied weights to her, got back on the boat, drove away from the island and dumped her body in the lake, according to the affidavit.

Greenway, who was identified as a suspect weeks after Minton’s disappearance, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in 2007 to drug charges.

Blair Brady, Greenway’s attorney, filed a motion to suppress any statements his client gave to police, but withdrew the motion.

A pre-trial hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14.
