Communities of faith: Author to visit two synagogues

— Charles London, author of Far From Zion: In Search of a Global Jewish Community, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Congregation Etz Chaim, 2406 E. Central Ave.

London visited Northwest Arkansas while doing research for his 2009 book and included an extensive chapter on the Jewish community of Bentonville in Far From Zion. During his talk, London will discuss his experiences visiting with Jewish communities around the world.

The author will also speak at 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at Congregation Agudath Achim, 7901 W. Fifth St., Little Rock.

Both appearances are part of the Southern States Jewish Literary Series sponsored by the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life, which is located in Jackson, Miss.
