Howard Lee Thornburg

SPRINGDALE — Howard Lee Thornburg, 63, of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. He was born on May 1, 1947, in Springdale, Ark., a son of Frank Theadore and Luvada (McGarrah) Thornburg.

Howard enjoyed following sports and being an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Springdale. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Arlene Main; a sister-in-law, Jan Thornburg; and a niece, Joy Renee Thornburg.

Howard is survived by three brothers, Paul Thornburg, Larry Thornburg and wife, Bobbi, and Bob Thornburg and wife, Linda, all of Springdale, Ark.; seven nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Wilson Cemetery in Springdale, Ark., with the Rev. Don Elmore officiating.

Helen Laws

ROGERS — Helen Laws, age 80, of Rogers, Ark., passed away on Oct. 24, 2010, in Bentonville, Ark. She was born April 22, 1930, in Albany, Okla., to the late Carl Buford and Hattie Bell Bates Gaines.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, porcelain painting and was a very active member of the Doll Artist of Louisiana. She had also been a member of the Riverside Baptist Church in River Ridge, La.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Musso of Rogers, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Meredith, Nathan, Lindsay and Amy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Collier Laws; and by a son, Jonathan Laws.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home in New Orleans, La.

Entombment will be in The Masonic Cemetery in New Orleans.

Local arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Betty Jean Soulek

BELLA VISTA — Betty Jean Soulek, 79, of Bella Vista passed away Oct. 25, 2010. Betty was born May 12, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to parents Oscar and Hildagard Schoubye.

Betty was united in marriage to William Joseph Soulek on Nov. 22, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nev. They enjoyed many years of marriage and relocated to Northwest Arkansas in the 1990s. Betty worked for many years as a legal secretary and was a member of St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church of Bella Vista.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Soulek, in August of 2009; as well as her parents; and sister, June Kenney.

She is survived by her daughters, Debi Jackson and husband, Mike, of Bella Vista, and Caroline Kozlosky and husband, Joe, of Stella, Mo.; brother, Robert Schoubye; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church of Bella Vista. Inurnment will follow at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville. The Rev. Ken Parks will officiate.

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church of Bella Vista.
