Earnings report

— Companies reporting quarterly earnings Tuesday included:

DuPont Co., the third-biggest U.S. chemical maker, reported third-quarter net income dropped 10 percent to $367 million, or 40 cents a share, from $409 million, or 45 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 17 percent to $7 billion. Its shares dropped 48 cents to $47.22.

Kimberly-Clark Corp., the maker of Huggies diapers, said third-quarter net income declined to $469 million, or $1.14 a share, from $582 million, or $1.40, a year earlier. Sales advanced 1.3 percent to $4.98 billion. Shares fell $3.86 to $62.61.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., the world’s second-largest cruise operator, reported third-quarter net income rose 55 percent to $356.8 million, or $1.64 a share, from $230.4million, or $1.07, a year earlier. Sales increased 17 percent to $2.06 billion. Shares rose $5.08 t0 $40.23.

Valero Energy Corp., the largest U.S. oil refiner, said net income for the third quarter was $292 million, or 51 cents a share, up from a year-earlier loss of $629 million, or 61 cents. Sales rose 20 percent to $22.2 billion. The shares rose 23 cents to $18.

TD Ameritrade Holding Corp., the third-largest U.S. retail brokerage by client assets, reported fourth-quarter net income fell 27 percent to $114 million, or 20 cents a share, compared with $156.7 million, or 26 cents, a year earlier. Commissions and fees revenue fell 31 percent to $250 million. Shares rose 4 cents to $16.79.
