— Bentonville police arrested three people and seized more than $134,000 in connection with a drug investigation, police said Monday.

Police arrested Bertha Alicia Alaniz, 40, Jose Fidencio Alaniz, 48, and Joe David Pena, 49, all residents of 500 Cross Creek Drive, in connection with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police also seized five vehicles, according to a news release.

The arrests were the result of an extensive investigation that allowed officers to serve a search warrant on the Cross Creek residence Monday morning, police said.

The search resulted in the discovery of approximately one-half pound of marijuana and other items related to the packaging, sale and distribution of the marijuana, authorities said.

Bertha Alaniz, Jose Alaniz and Pena were being held in the Benton County Jail on Monday afternoon awaiting bond hearings.

Police said the investigation is continuing, but no further arrests are expected.
