Future Bright For Lady Red’Dogs

— Springdale High girls cross country coach Paige Rollins has been pleased with the production of her young team this year.

Despite a few less-than-ideal finishes, Rollins said her runners have gained valuable experience and confidence that’ll help them in the future.

Springdale was mostly led by sophomores Jasmine Myrick, Alicia Reyna, Rosi Cruz and junior Laura Worthen this season, Rollins said.

“They’ve put in the effort everyday, and right now, it’s really starting to show,” Rollins said. “We’ve grown up so much. They do the right things, not only during practice, but when they’re at home and training on their own.

“The next two years are definitely going to be a lot of fun, that’s for sure.”

Rollins said she’s still looking for a No. 5 runner, which would help the team qualify for the state meet. However, any kind of high finish for any of the girls would be beneficial in building confidence, Rollins said.

“We’ve got a bunch of smart athletes,” Rollins said. “It’s been such a pleasure to see them learn more about the sport, to learn how to train correctly and find out what it’s like to see success from all the hard work. We’re going to keep working on those things for bigger and better results in the future.”
