Roy Challenges Carter For Lincoln Alderman Seat

— Incumbent Alderman Burl Carter faces a challenge from Laurie Roy for the Ward 1, Position 2 seat on the Lincoln City Council.

Carter said he’s got experience — “My eight years of experience on the city council and 11 years experience on the Lincoln Planning Commission and my 35 years experience as a resident and Lincoln business owner” — that voters should consider.

His priority as alderman would be “to help facilitate continued progress and improvement for our city,” Carter said.

Roy is perhaps most widely known in her role as assistant county fire marshal.

“My motivation for running for Lincoln City Council is to give a voice to the residents and to motivate and encourage people to obtain a vision for our city,” Roy said.

“One of my strengths as a city council candidate is my genuine interest in seeing growth and prosperity come to Lincoln. My lack of self-interest projects allows my full attention toward the citizens of Lincoln,” she said.

“My top priorities as a member on city council would be to create city beautification projects, and to establish more activities to generate our youth’s involvement in our community,” Roy said.
