NORTHERN LIGHTS Art D’Vine auction bears fundraising fruit

— Are we still in Fayetteville? What’s the ZIP code out here? Is that a bat?

Guests of the first Art D’Vine art auction Oct. 16 to benefit Northwest Arkansas Community Creative Center got a tour of Bruce and Joan Johnson’s Dromborg Castle that could not have been more perfect for the season.

Guests were treated to a brilliant sunset from the top of the four-story turret. Some, though not all, bore witness to a hidden storage room off a circular antechamber by way of a sliding bookcase on a hidden lever. All around the castle were wrought iron fixtures, solid oak doors andhardwood trim.

“Let’s make art accessible to everyone” was the planned battle cry of the night, but there was perhaps a greater meeting of the minds about generally advertising local talents.

Roderick Rowser is a New York couturier who moved to Fayetteville, but has designed pieces for Karl Lagerfeld and a leather jacket for Bill Cosby. He plans to open his custom clothing boutique, Bespoke, soon, and he designed Daymara Baker’s dress.

“That’s what we’re here today to really promote. These talented people in the community that you don’t even know about,” Baker said.
