— Springdale firefighters spent most of the day Saturday battling a stubborn fire at Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, 914 N. Jefferson.

Fire dispatchers said the fire was located in bales of pallets located at the back of the facility.

The fire produced lots of smoke but there were no reports of injuries.

Firefighters were dispatched to AERT at 5:24 a.m. Four engines, a ladder truck, rescue crews and an ambulance responded.

At one point, firefighters requested heavy machinery from the city’s Road Department to move the material around so they could better get at the fire.

Crews were still working the fire Saturday afternoon and the cause had not been determined.
