2010 NWA Fall Job Fair Monday

The 2010 NWA Fall Job Fair will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the John Q. Hammons Center. The event is open to the public, free of charge, presented by NorthWest Arkansas Community College and WorkSource NTS and hosted by the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce.

The job fair features the “Job Seekers Lounge,” complete with computers providing applicants easy access to online applications.

Attendees should be professionally dressed and ready to interview at the fair.

More than 50 regional employers will be looking to fill hundreds of positions.

A free Resume CPR workshop will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Human resource and recruiting professionals from the Northwest Arkansas Human Resources Association will be available to review and critique resumes and offer tips for improvement.

Attendees should bring a printed copy of their resume and a copy on a flash drive so changes can be made.

Tyson Top Supplier To McDonald’s

McDonald's USA recently selected Tyson Foods as its 2010 Supplier of the Year. Tyson has supplied chicken to McDonald’s for nearly 30 years and this is the meat giant’s first time to receive this honor.

Tyson was commended for the company’s efforts to implement an effective cost savings program for McDonald’s and playing a leading role in sustainable supply and the development of quality and food safety standards.

“Tyson Foods is looked upon as a trusted and strategic provider by the McDonald’s brand and our franchisee community,” said Dan Gorsky, senior vice president, McDonald's North America Supply Chain. “They stand as the epitome of all the qualities we look for in our best suppliers, from leadership, partnership and teamwork to quality and innovation.”

The award is presented annually to the food, paper or product supplier that makes the most significantimpact on, and contribution to, McDonald's U.S. business results from the previous year. The award criteria include commitment to quality and food safety, product, equipment and process innovation, exemplary customer service and value.

Fayetteville Village Inn Remodeled

Village Inn Restaurant in Fayetteville was recently closed for a week for renovations. The restaurant has been in Northwest Arkansas for more than 15 years.

Owner George Babb said he used local contractors from financing and marketing to electrical and flooring.

Babb said the entire interior design was changed.

The restaurant reopened Oct. 16.

Babb also plans to remodel his restaurants in Bentonville and Fort Smith.

Supplement Store Opens On Joyce

Complete Nutrition, a franchise designed to simplify the nutritional supplement shopping experience, opened at 745 E. Joyce Blvd., Fayetteville.

Complete Nutrition features weight loss, sports nutrition and general health products. The company employs certified personal trainers and nutritionists.

Complete Nutrition works with doctors, chemists and scientists to create formulas for new products.

The company has more than 40 stores nationwide and plan to open 40 more by the end of the year.

Agency Enters 50th Year

Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods marked its 50th year on Oct. 15. The advertising, marketing and public relations firm unveiled a new corporate logo and a revamped website.

Founded in 1961 by Wayne Cranford and Jim Johnson, the agency grew to Cranford Johnson Robinson Associates after Ron Robinson wasadded as a principal in 1984.

The firm merged in 1990 with Wayne and Shelby Woods of The Woods Brothers Agency. In 1998, Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods established a presence in Northwest Arkansas, and in 2006, it acquired Jones Productions - now known as Jones Film Video - as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Earlier this month, the agency’s executive committee of the board of directors named Wayne Woods as chairman and CEO.

Christian Brothers Automotive Opens

Christian Brothers Automotive is opening a branch at 600 S.E. Walton Blvd., Bentonville.

Situated across the street from the Best Western, the opening of the 5,000-squarefoot automotive repair shop includes nine service bays.

Christian Brothers Automotive provides full-service automotive diagnostic testing and evaluation, maintenance programs and repair work for all domestic and foreign vehicles at each of their shops. All of Christian Brother Automotive facilities are staffed with automotive service excellence certified technicians.

Business Graduates Ranked Ninth

Students in the Walton College of Business Graduate School at the University of Arkansas have been ranked ninth most-competitive by The Princeton Review “The Best 300 Business Schools: 2011 edition.”

The profile includes such statements as, “being very near to the world’s largest retailer makes certain business fields both relevant and accessible, such as the school’s spectacular supply chain management programs. Even so, Arkansas students say it isn’t all Walmart, all the time. On the contrary, the school has taken advantage of its propitious location and tapped into the many vendors and Fortune 500 companies located in the region.”

On the faculty, the profilesays, “The professors are extremely knowledgeable in their fields and effectively tie theory to real case studies and actions.”

The business school edition of The Princeton Review contains two-page profiles of schools with information on their academics, student life and admissions, plus rating for the academics, selectivity and career placement services.

Financial Institute Hosts Workshops

The Garrison Financial Institute in the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is offering free “How Can I Afford Retirement” workshops in the coming months. The institute is collaborating with the Fayetteville Public Library and the Central Arkansas Library System.

Participants must register in advance.

Workshops at the Fayetteville Public Library are, “Investing Wisely to Avoid the Financial Risk of Longer Life Expectancy” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 or 10 a.m.

Nov. 20; and, “Protecting Your Investments - The Best Defense is a Wise and Safe Investor” at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9 or 10 a.m. Dec. 11.

A financial professional will present each session, which also includes a 15-minute briefing by a reference librarian regarding various resources available in the library, small discussion groups and a question-andanswer session.
