No batteries required. You set level of winter air-flow. Fits all residential turbinevents. To install, loosen screws and remove turbine head, place Turbine Boss in roof mount, reattach head. Manufacturer suggests trying it out by placing it in refrigerator, waiting 30 minutes, then viewing closed louvers.
