Keep it clean

— Resolve’s new pet-cleaning products

Be honest, does my house smell?

Like a kennel.

Ouch.

Well, you asked.

OK, seriously, this housebreaking thing isn’t going well. Any suggestions?

A doghouse may work. But the folks over at Resolve are, um, resolved to keep the battle indoors. They’ve released five new products aimed at tackling tough pet stains on carpet.

Why five?

Well, pets can be pesky. You have your accidents - big and small; your general wear and tear; and several varieties of foul odors. They havea foam meant for foyers and stairs, the high-traffic areas. There’s also an Instant Eraser the company promises will dissolve spots without scrubbing. Ground-in dirt, and, ugh, “messes” can be treated with the Deep Clean Powder, which can be sprinkled over large areas and vacuumed up. There’s a stain remover with “odor stop” technology meant to discourage future accidents. And speaking of accidents, they have a “pet stain” trigger spray to treat those.

If you have a steam cleaner, you can use their new Pet Steam solution, which the company says is safe to use in all popular deep-cleaning machines.

Sounds like a lot of work.

Can accidents be prevented?

Resolve passed along suggestions from pet trainer Warren Eckstein: When unsupervised, pets need to be confined; watch for signs your pet needs to go out, pacing or walking in circles; establish a consistent feeding and walking schedule; praise your dog when he does his business outside.

Well just in case Fido’s not perfect ... The spray, foam and eraser each cost $5.29 and the powder costs $7.99. The steamclean costs $9.49 for 48 ounces and $16.28 for 60 ounces.
