High court tosses challenge to interest rate item

— The Arkansas Supreme Court has thrown out a challenge to a proposed constitutional amendment that would raise the cap on interest rates.

The high court ruled Friday, a day after hearing oral arguments on the voter lawsuit filed by April Forrester.

Forrester argued that the amendment improperly combined more than one issue — raising the interest rate limit for business and government loans and allowing bond funding for energy efficiency projects.

The court didn't address that argument. Instead, the court ruled it doesn't have jurisdiction. Forrester has filed another challenge in circuit court.
