3 people die in accidents around state

— Three people were killed in motor vehicle accidents Saturday in Union, Sevier and Benton counties, the Arkansas State Police reported.

In Union County, Amanda Jennings died after she drove a pickup off a bridge on Arkansas 160 east of Mount Holly, according to a state police report.

Jennings was headed west at 5:17 p.m. when the pickup struck a guardrail and went off the bridge, falling about 20 feet and coming to a rest upside down, the report says.

Two passengers, Drake Payne, 14, and Natlie Jennings, 11, were taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, the report said. Information about their conditions was unavailable Sunday.

In Sevier County, Lisa Cornell, 46, of Shreveport was killed in a motorcycle accident on U.S. 71 south of De Queen, according to a state police report.

Th e m o to rc yc l e wa s headed south at 9:01 p.m. when a rear tire went flat and the driver, Franklin Cornell, 50, of Shreveport, lost control, the report says. The motorcycle turned over, skidding on its side for 120 feet, the report said.

Franklin Cornell was treated at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas, and released, a hospital spokesman said.

In Benton County, Nicholas Crowne II, 36, of Rogers was killed when he was struck by a car on U.S. 71 Business in Bethel Heights, according to a state police report.

Crowne was struck by a Toyota Corolla after he walked into the road at 11:31 p.m., the report says.

The Corolla’s driver, Teresa Martinez, 24, of Bethel Heights, was not injured, the report says.
