Memorial Day Event Set

— BELLA VISTA — The Veterans of Foreign War post in Bella Vista will hold a Memorial Day event at Bella Vista Memorial Garden Cemetery on May 31.

The Pea Ridge High School band will play at 9:30 a.m. The program will begin at 10 a.m.

The featured speaker will be Capt. Luke M. McCollum from the Navy. The program will include music by The Perfect Harmony Women’s Barbershop Chorus.

The event will move to Riordan Hall if it rains.

Decoration Service Planned

HIGHFILL — The Douglas Cemetery in Highfill will hold a decoration service at 2 p.m. May 30 with Pastor Bruce Holland. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

Donations to the cemetery for maintenance and upkeep are encouraged and can be mailed to Marilyn Wade, 13508 Arkansas 264 West, Gentry, AR 72734.

Bridge Repair To Start

BELLA VISTA — The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department will repair a bridge across Pinion Creek on U.S. 71, near the Village Home Center in Bella Vista, at the end of this week or the first part of next week.

The repair on both north and southbound sides will take about five days, said Highway Department spokesman Glenn Bolick.

A caller reported a 3-foot-diameter hole with the reinforced iron bars showing in bridge to the police on May 14.

The hole was patched over the weekend, but a crew will make more permanent repairs, Bolick said.

Practice Center To Extend Hours

BELLA VISTA — Bella Vista Village’s Tanyard Creek Practice Center will extend its summer hours from June through August.

The driving range will stay open until 8 p.m., with the last bucket of balls being sold at 7:45 p.m. beginning June 1.
