Jobless claims fall, productivity gains

People fill the aisles at a job fair Wednesday in Montpelier, Vt. First-time claims for unemployment benefits dropped last week, the Labor Department reported.
The productivity of U.S. workers climbed more than forecast in the first quarter and fewer Americans filed claims for unemployment benefits last week, reports released Thursday said.
