FORT SMITH City up for reality TV cop show

Producer expects routine police work, plus chases, shoot-outs

City officials are finalizing a contract with a production company to tape a reality TV program that would feature Fort Smith police officers at work on the streets.

The program by Base Productions Inc. is currently in production under the working title POV PD with a number of police departments around the country, co-CEO Mickey Stern said Friday. POV in the title stands for “Point of View,” he said.

The first of the programs is scheduled to begin airing on cable’s A&E channel in late summer or early fall, he said.
