Springdale Macadoodles Gets Liquor License

— Macadoodles received its liquor license Thursday for a store under construction in Springdale, set to open March 29, said Larry Williams, who owns the Springdale Macadoodles with his partners, Tyler Austin and James Coenen.

A fuel station in front of Macadoodles will open Thursday, Williams said.

Construction crews are scheduled to pave an entrance on Tuesday and store staff are starting to stock shelves, Williams said.

Macadoodles can open and sell liquor, beer and wine despite a challenge to its permit, said Michael Langley, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board director. The Arkansas Beverage Retailers Association sued Langley in Pulaski County Circuit Court in August, challenging the transfer of a liquor permit to Austin in July.

The lawsuit asked courts to clarify the law and for a court order to remand the issue to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which would hear additional testimony. The case was dismissed in February. The Pulaski County Circuit Court clerk said March 12 a notice of appeal was filed.

Jim Phillips, president of the Springdale Liquor Association, is the founder of the Arkansas Beverage Retailers Association. It has about 40 members statewide, including 12 in Northwest Arkansas.
