National Football League broadcaster Daryl Johnston made it clear why he was happy to be the celebrity guest at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s 2010 Hope Gala. “Philanthropy was a big part of our locker room,” said Johnston, a two-time Pro Bowl running back with the Dallas Cowboys during the 1990s. “If you can find your passion, good things will happen.” Good things were happening March 6 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center, as the Hope Gala raised some $184,000, far surpassing the goal of $170,000.
