NORTHERN LIGHTS = Guest helps score cash for kids’ diabetes fight

National Football League broadcaster Daryl Johnston made it clear why he was happy to be the celebrity guest at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s 2010 Hope Gala.

“Philanthropy was a big part of our locker room,” said Johnston, a two-time Pro Bowl running back with the Dallas Cowboys during the 1990s. “If you can find your passion, good things will happen.”

Good things were happening March 6 at the John Q.

Hammons Convention Center, as the Hope Gala raised some $184,000, far surpassing the goal of $170,000. Two items reached the $4,000 mark during the Gary Cooper-led live auction, with John Scott Bull bidding $4,000 for a week-long stay for six at a beachfront property ...
