Springdale elementary school students got a taste of the free market Wednesday morning as they took part in an entrepreneurial exercise at NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
About two dozen teams of four to five children turned the college’s Student Center into a bustling market bazaar. They sold everything from painted rocks to hand-sewn pillows. The event, named the Liberty Eagles Expo, was organized by the college’s chapter of Students in Free Enterprise. The expo was the culmination of a six-week program in which elementary school children were taught basic business concepts, said George Tanner, a Sam Walton Fellow at the college.
