LITTLE ROCK The Cleburne County sheriff has identified a man killed by a tornado in the community of Pearson as 79-year-old Ward Baldridge.
Sheriff Marty Moss said Thursday that Baldridge was injured when the twister hit the family’s home about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Moss says Baldridge died later at Baptist Medical Center at Heber Springs.
The sheriff says Baldridge’s 75-year-old wife, Ivajean Baldridge, and his 23-year-old grandson, Blake Baldridge, suffered serious injuries. Both were taken to the Heber Springs hospital then transferred to a Little Rock hospital.
The sheriff said a fourth person was also injured when the pickup truck he was driving was blown off Arkansas 107 by the winds. Moss said the man has a shoulder injury and is hospitalized at Heber Springs.
