Farmington Missed Taxing Some Residents

Annexed residents who live in and near The Golf Club at Valley View may soon see a small increase in some of their utility bills.

Farmington officials learned Monday some of the city’s newest residents are not being charged the city’s 2 percent sales tax and 4.25 percent franchise fee on utility bills.

Nancy Ellis-Grimwood, who lives near the Valley View entrance, this week showed the City Council a copy her utility bill and some of her neighbors’ bills without the taxes and fees.

Ellis-Grimwood mentioned the omission while speaking against a 1 percent sales tax proposal to pay for baseball fields and other facilities for the summer baseball program. The council approved sending the matter to ...
