Trollinger Pleads Not Guilty

A Lowell fire marshal pleaded not guilty Monday to buying too much medicine containing pseudoephedrine, a misdemeanor charge.
Marc Trollinger is also the chief of the Hickory Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
He is on leave from both those positions after his arrest Feb. 9 by the Lowell Police Department.
Officers arrested Trollinger after a database flagged him for exceeding the 30-day limit of medicine containing the decongestant, according to police records.
Pseudoephedrine is used in cold and allergy medicine. It is also used to make methamphetamine.
Police say Trollinger bought four packages of medication between Dec. 8 and Jan. 22, and was denied a fifth purchase because he had exceeded the limit.
Trollinger’s lawyer, Kim Weber, has said Trollinger suffers from allergies. She said Monday she looks forward to resolving the case.
Greg Brown, the Lowell prosecutor, recused himself and passed the case to Van Stone, Benton County prosecuting attorney.
Stone said Monday the case will follow the normal court procedure.
