The number of homes sold in Benton and Washington counties increased 8 percent last year, but 234 local agents walked away from the profession.
The number of licensed agents associated with three local real estate boards dropped 11.3 percent between January and December of 2009, according to the Arkansas Realtors Association.
The Metro Board of Realtors in Fayetteville and Springdale reported 1,009 agents as of Dec. 31, down 9 percent from January 2009. The Rogers Board of Realtors shrunk 21 percent throughout 2009 to end with 651 agents. Bentonville and Bella Vista’s membership increased 31 percent to 171 agents by the end of 2009.
