Republicans Expect More Justice Of The Peace Candidates To File Monday

Jim Reavis, chairman of the Republican Party in Washington County, said a couple of weeks ago he expected more GOP candidates contesting Democrats in local races than ever before. That was before he checked voting records. When he did that, he found out his party’s prospective candidates for county judge, sheriff, prosecuting attorney and other offices previously voted in Democratic primaries, he said. Reavis fared better recruiting candidates for the Quorum Court and expects even more to file before the noon Monday deadline for the party primaries in May.
