Slabs of broken concrete tumbled like blocks. A hand-painted sign reading SOS. Faces - lots of faces - of a handsome people still smiling despite all odds.

The images flashed on the screen at First Baptist Church in Rogers on Sunday evening had a visible effect on the men and women who’d seen the destruction in Haiti firsthand.

“That’s hard to watch,” said Dr.

Adam Maass, an endocrinologist at Mercy Medical Center who went on a medical mission trip two weeks after the Jan. 12 earthquake. Maass joined seven other volunteers to talk about their experiences at the church service.
