Greenwood Shuts Out Red’Dogs In Opener

In the span of three innings, Greenwood got everything it needed to win on Friday afternoon.

Greenwood totaled four runs on five hits in the third, fourth and fifth innings to defeat Springdale High 5-0 at the Tyson Sports Complex.

The game wasn’t only the season opener for both teams, it was also Springdale coach Billy Ray Rutledge’s first as a head coach.

During the three-inning stretch, Greenwood (1-0) stole six bases and got run-scoring hits from Tony Sandifer, Will Caster and Justin Sunde.

Sandifer (1-0) also gave Greenwood good production on the mound, striking out eight batters and giving up four hits in six innings of work.
