Communities of faith: Institute to focus on small churches

Mount Sequoyah Conference Center will host the Small Church Leadership Institute from Monday through Friday. The conference is for laity and clergy interested in learning skills for leading their small congregations. Alice Mann, senior consultant with the Alban Institute, will speak during the first two days of the conference. The institute, based in Herndon, Va., is an independent center of leadership development with a focus on congregations. Mann has written several books, including Can Our Church Live? Redeveloping Congregations in Decline.Other speakers include Tim Reaves of the Bladen Charge in North Carolina and Doug Anderson, executive director of the Bishop Rueben Job Center for Leadership Development in South Dakota.
