Tuition may go up at NorthWest Arkansas Community College because of a record-setting increase in enrollment. More students mean more costs once you get past certain economies of scale. The college is well into a “diminishing returns” situation here.

What? Take money away from colleges to give it to other colleges? Those colleges that are not doing well need help not less funding. I would argue that they need to increase the diversity of their offerings. Also, the students may just be trying to escape their parents and small town ways. Everyone needs some space.
Yes, you are correct, the lottery does pose a lot of questions. Now that they are raking in the millions, everyone wants a piece of the pie, including us, certificate granting, career, and technical schools.
Instead of saying what can we do to steal money from other schools, let's put pressure on the for-profit money maker and our legislature to get a better deal for our students.
I also feel there is a lot of waste across the board at our schools. We need a serious revamp and better creative thought into how we can stretch the dollar to ultimately help our students. If you would like to work together on any of these ideas, feel free to contact me.
