Next Rogers Mayor Should Have Easy Transition

Mayor Steve Womack said he will do everything in his power to make the transition easy for whomever is elected to succeed him in November.

Getting a new mayor in Rogers is a rare event. There have only been three mayor is the past 32 years.

• Steve Womack was elected in November 1998, took office on Jan. 1, 1999, and has served since.

• John Sampier took office in 1981 and served until 1998.

• Jack Cole took office in January 1979 and resigned in 1981.
