Wal-Mart ready to rally its troops

The stage is set for today’s annual meeting and pep rally as the world’s largest retailer hosts shareholders and employees from around the world at Bud Walton Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has turned in a string of impressive earnings reports, but its stock price has struggled as the company has recorded four consecutive quarters of declines in sales at stores open at least a year.

On Wednesday and Thursday leading up to today’s annual meeting, Wal-Mart workers and shareholders kept busy visiting area stores and the Wal-Mart Visitors Center in downtown Bentonville. Charter buses shuttled the visitors to and from their destinations.
