Wrecked Truck Blocks Traffic

— A wrecked tractor-trailer blocked traffic in the westbound lane of Arkansas 94 near Palomino Drive in the Horseshoe Bend-Monte Ne area near Beaver Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred after Michael Wayne Parker, 48, of Tallulah, La., missed his intended delivery point in Rogers and became lost, according to a news release from the Arkansas State Police.

As he was driving back toward Rogers, Parker failed to negotiate a curve and his trailer dropped into a ditch, police said.

After striking a paved driveway, mailbox and utility pole, the tractor-trailer turned over on to its right side, coming to rest on its side, according to police.

Parker told authorities he was using his global position system device while driving when the accident occurred.

The wreck interrupted power service to Carroll Electric and cable service to Cox Communications customers.

Arkansas 94 was closed at various times, but was opened to one lane only during the afternoon.

Parker suffered a small cut on his head, which did not require medical treatment, according to information from State Police.

Parker was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
