Water District Refinances, Saves $1.1 Million

— The Beaver Water District will save more than $1.1 million over the next 12 years after it refinanced a 2003 series of bonds, according to a news release.

The $57.39 million bond issue was used to help pay for an expansion of the water district’s treatment plant, which was completed last year. The district treats and provides water from Beaver Lake to Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville.

Because the district’s only source of revenue is water sales, all of its expenses and savings are passed on to customers.

The bonds will mature in 2022.
