Grant Concert Aids Nonprofit

An Evening with Amy Grant, a fundraising concert, is planned for Aug. 13 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale.

Grant is a six-time Grammy winner who has sold more than 40 million albums. Organizers said the artist will sing some of her best-known songs.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Salvation Army in Northwest Arkansas.

Gates will open at 6 p.m., and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Holders of VIP meet-and-greet tickets will be granted admittance at 5:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $42, tickets purchased at the gate will cost $47, and VIP tickets are $150. Tickets are available online at www.nwanaturals.com or by calling 877-444-2637.

Three sponsorship levels are available - gold, silver and bronze.

Jeopardy Game Slated Aug. 8

The Washington County Arkansas Genealogical Society will host “Genealogy Jeopardy” from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

This year’s competition will pit Benton County’s Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society’s “best” against the “home team,” the Washington County Genealogical Society.

Contestants will face topics such as “Famous Washington County Women,” “Famous Benton County Men,” “Occupations (old to new),” and “Arkansas History.”

Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited.

Celebration Honors Anniversary Couple

Ileta and Jay Beckloff of Bentonville will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m.

Saturday at the Bentonville Church of Christ Activity Center.

The date of the reception was published incorrectly on Sunday because of an erroneous line on a submitted form.

Fair Pageants Accepting Entries

The Miss Benton County Fair Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Benton County Fair Auditorium in Bentonville.

The Miss Benton County Fair Pageant is open to 2010-11 high school senior girls or homeschool seniors who reside in Benton County.

Open House Planned Aug. 4

The Sexual Assault Recovery & Prevention Agency will host its annual open house and a grand re-opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4.

The event will be at the organization’s offices at 589 White Road, suites A and B in Springdale.
