— Shiloh Christian quarterback Kiehl Frazier was among some fast company last week in the prestigious Elite 11 Quarterback Camp in Los Angeles.

But the 6-foot-3, 210-pound rising senior proved he belongs on the big stage, earning Most Improved recognition from a panel of stellar college quarterbacks who served as camp counselors. The group included Blaine Gabbert of Missouri, Andy Dalton of TCU, Kirk Cousins of Michigan State, Tyrod Taylor of Virginia Tech, Jacory Harris of Miami and Jerrod Johnson of Texas A&M.

In an ESPN Rise story by Greg Biggins, Frazier was named the Most Improved of the 11 quarterbacks who made up this year’s field by the camp counselors.

“Frazier started off slow the first two workouts but improved rapidly as the week went along,” Biggins wrote. “Physically, Frazier looks like a college quarterback right now and as he continues to improve mechanically, should do great things at Auburn.”

Shiloh coach Josh Floyd said the experience alone was invaluable for his three-year starting quarterback who has led the Saints to back-to-back Class 4A state titles.

“It’s just such a great honor for Kiehl to be considered among the top quarterbacks in the country,” Floyd said. “He had a great time.”

Frazier visited Disneyland and Laguna Beach, Floyd said. There were also a number of the nation’s top recruiting analysts at the camp.

“They said Kiehl’s improvement over the past three years has been significant,” Floyd said. “Fundamentally they said he’s raw, but there is no question about his athletic ability. His release is also a lot better.”

Frazier and the Saints open summer practice Monday in defense of their 4A state title.

Floyd said he was leaving Tuesday for Dallas, where he will participate in a news conference in Cowboys Stadium for the upcoming Kirk Herbstreit Classic. The Saints will take on Texas Class 5A powerhouse Euless Trinity on Monday, Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m. in opening tilt of a four-game slate in the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
