Panama identifies U.S. woman’s body

— Panamanian authorities say they have identified the body of a U.S. woman who had been missing since March and are looking for a Texas man suspected in her death.

Prosecutors’ adviser Neftali Jaen said police Friday identified the remains of Cheryl Lynn Hughes, who disappeared in western Bocas del Toro province. He didn’t have a hometown for Hughes.

Police on Tuesday found her body and the skeletal remains of another person buried in the back patio of a hotel owned by William Adolfo Cortez of Texas.

Jaen said police are investigating whether the other remains are those of a U.S. man missing since December 2009. He said Cortez has a tourism company that belonged to the missing man registered in his name.
