Fayetteville Teen Earns Eagle Rank

— Cameron Baker, 17, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Baker, a member of Fayetteville Troop 116, will be a senior at Fayetteville High School and joins his three older brothers in achieving this honor.

Baker’s project benefi ts the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department. Leading other scouts, he organized, planned and built a kiosk and a park bench at Lake Wilson. The kiosk contains a trail map and park rules and is located at the trailhead near a pavilion overlooking the lake. His project took more than 75 man hours to complete and involved organizing several workdays leading up to the final buildingand installation of his project.

The son of Terry and Susie Baker, he will serve as vice president of the National Honor Society his senior year. He also is a Student Council member, and a leader of the Fayetteville football Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is a varsity football player and a varsity wrestler. He was the 7A Conference Champion in wrestling this year and placed second at state for his weight class. He is a recent graduate of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce Teen Leadership Experience, and attended Boys State this year.

He was also selected by the Northside Fayetteville Rotary Club to attend the National Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in Oklahoma.
