— Ryan Holt Graham, son of Jim and Lorri Graham of Bella Vista, is a 2010 graduate ofBentonville High School.

Graham is a National Merit finalist. He is also the recipient of a University of ArkansasHonors College Fellowship and an Arkansas Distinguished Governor’s Scholarship.

A total of 215 students at Ouachita Baptist University were named to the President’s List for the spring 2010 semester. To be named to the President’s List, a student must compile a 4.0 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student, with a minimum of 12 academic hours.

Students named to the list included Samantha Street of Rogers, Deborah Caldwell of Siloam Springs and Rachel Harris of Springdale.

Each semester, students at Missouri State University who attain academic excellence are named to the Dean’s List.

For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and at least a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Of the 13,980 degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled during the spring 2010 semester, 3,583 earned a spot on the list.

Missouri State University conferred 2,539 degrees during the spring commencement ceremonies May 14 at the JQH Arena.

Scholastic honors were given to 123 students who graduated summa cum laude (with a grade point average of 3.9-4.0 on a 4.0 scale), 143 who graduated magna cum laude (with a GPA of 3.75-3.89 and 280 who graduated cum laude (with a GPA of 3.5-3.74).

The University of Central Arkansas has announced the Dean’s List and the Presidential Scholars List for the spring 2010 semester.

Recognition on the Dean’s List requires at least a 3.5 grade point average with a minimum course load of 12 credit hours. Students must achieve a 4.0 grade point average with a minimum course load of 12 credit hours to receive the recognition of Presidential Scholar.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe commencement ceremony in May included a local resident.

Valerie Jean Upshaw of Fayetteville received an associate of general studies.

Collin Glen Kruger of Siloam Springs graduated with a Bachelor of Science in computing and an Associate of Science in engineering during the Union College, Lincoln, Neb. commencement ceremonies on May 9. Union College awarded 212 degrees to 197 students.

Aaron Bagwell of Bentonville is among the Harding University students included on the Dean’s List for grades achieved during the spring semester. Bagwell is a sophomore accounting major.

The dean’s list is published each semester by Dr. Larry Long, vice president for academic affairs, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade point average and no incompletes.

Alyssa Walter of Springdale has been awarded a Chancellor’s Scholarship tostudy at the University of Arkansas.

Chancellor’s Scholarships are among the university’s most prestigiousawards, providing up to $8,000 per year toward tuition, feesand on-campus room and board to top students from Arkansas and the nation. Two hundred and fifty such scholarships are being awarded this year.

Chancellor’s Scholars represent the top 5 percent of students throughout the United States, often being recruited by the country’s top tier institutions.

Walter is the daughter of Brenda and Mark Walter of Springdale. She intends to major in engineering at the University of Arkansas. Special awards she received in high school include the Springdale Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education Award for three years and All-Region Choir selection.

Lauren Corrine Brown of Fayetteville has received a Collegiate Scholars Award fromArkansas Tech University in Russellville.

Brown, the daughter of Judy and Don Brown, received anExcellent Leadership Award. She graduated from Fayetteville High School, and she plans to major in nursing.

Several area students received recognition for academic achievement during the spring semester at John Brown University in Siloam Springs.

Students named to the President’s List maintained a grade point average of 3.8 or better. Area students named to that list included Jessica Rollene, Patton Shinall and Mollie Sweetser, all of Springdale.

Students named to the Dean’s List maintained a grade point average between 3.4 and 3.7. Area students named to that list included Corbin Hobbs of Rogers;

James Antz, Sabrina Conde Mallory Culver, Joshua Paterson and Sarah Smith, all of Springdale; and Haley Gilbert of Lowell.

Drury University’s Behavioral Sciences Department recognized Jennifer Goodwin of Rogers with the Outstanding Student in Criminology Award. The honor is conferred upon the graduating senior with the highest academic achievements. Goodwin was recognized at the annual departmental awards ceremony.
