Keep it clean

— Eureka Pet Pal Bagless Upright Vacuum

What’s it for? Vacuumcleaner companies have of late been introducing models designed to suck up pet hair right and left.

Eureka’s Pet Pal has a slightly different take from others: It comes with what it calls a Hair Raiser brush, which can be used independently from the vacuum.

The brush looks like a paddle, with oval Velcrolike patches on each side of the head.

Then what?

The brush fits into a holster on the side of the vacuum.

Its purpose is to grab pet hair in hard-toreach places such as backs of upholstered chairs, clothing and car seats. You pull it out of the holster. Ruban edge of the brush around an area to loosen the hair,

then run the flat part over

the hair to pick it up.

Move the brush in and

out of the holster a few times to loosen the hair.

Then, with a flip of the vacuum switch, the wad of hair is whisked to the dust cup. The vacuum also has what’s called a “pet power paw” to loosen and grab pet hair from stairs and carpets.

Anything more?

A HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter captures 99.37 percent of dust and allergens, Eureka says. The dust cup has a flip bottom to keep the fine dust, pet dander, etc., away from you while emptying it. The vacuum will adjustheight for bare floors or carpet. It weighs just under 21 pounds.
