CASA of Northwest Arkansas will host the annual Christmas in July toy drive 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Toyota of Northwest Arkansas in Rogers.

Residents can donate a new, unwrapped toy to help area children who have suffered abuse and neglect. Cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants will be on hand to greet kids.

Parents will receive a free digital fingerprinting kit.

Child car seat safety checks will also be offered.

Girls’ math workshop starts Monday

How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail, a workshop for girls entering grades 7-9, will be 6-7:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith’s Flanders Building.

The workshop offers tips on how girls can understand middle school math, including tips for getting unstuck, tips and tricks for homework and tests and step-by-step instructions on solving math problems.

The workshop costs $69 including a book and a pizza party on Thursday.

The Buffalo National River Partners will present Historic Cemeteries: Old Questions, New Tools with Jami Lockhart of the Arkansas Archeological Survey at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday at the Boone County Library in Harrison.

Lockhart will discuss the displacement of grave markers at historic cemeteries and the re-emergence of native vegetation at those sites and offer information on remote sensing and digital mapping technologies, including ground-penetrating radar, aerial photography and surveying equipment used to locate these grave markers.
