Man Pleads Guilty To Child Rape

— A Springdale man pleaded guilty Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court to three counts of raping a person who was younger than 14 years old.

David Robert Macomber, 40, will be sentenced in September to 40 years at the Arkansas Department of Correction as part of a plea agreement, according to Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Amy Driver.

The rapes, which occurred between 2003 and 2006 while Macomber was living i n Faye tte - ville, came to light duringa federal child pornography investigation, Driver said.

Macomber pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Fayetteville on June 22 to two counts of a six-count indictment for receiving and distributing child pornography. In that case, Macomber faces up to 20 years in federal prison per count, fines of up to $250,000 and supervised release of five years to life upon release from prison.

Springdale police arrested Macomber on the child porn charges after federal agents in California identified his computer address as one having child porn on a filesharing site. Federal agents in January found 762 files containing child pornography from Macomber’s computer address.
